Black has made its way back into the design world and in a big way, from cabinetry to lighting fixtures and even paint. We saw lots of black accents at KBIS and the preview that came out of the Las Vegas Market had its fair share too.
Here we are bringing a little snapshot of what we are seeing as a trend to keep you up to date! So let’s start with furniture and room decor. Uttermost came out with some gorgeous pieces full of geometric angles!
And the black was often mixed with natural wood or a soft fabric such as boucle or velvet…
And you can also see the same application here with Mercana’s, the mix of natural elements and black finishes.
The “Black is Back” style was also incorporated by major retailers like Pottery Barn for example.
But if you want to embrace the look but you are not ready for a full makeover, don’t panic! You do not need to redo your entire house to be up to date on this design trend. Simply choosing a few fixtures or accessories in black can add that bit of drama needed to elevate a design. Shades of light has some stunning black contemporary chandeliers!
Black cabinetry is especially my favorite because it makes me think of a beautify tailored suite, regal and classic! Simply replace an existing furniture piece with this Harmon Storage Cabinet from Pottery Barn.
And if you are not interested in buying a new piece, or perhaps don’t have the space for it, what about rolling up your sleeves and adding some paint to your space? You can choose an accent wall or maybe even paint a furniture piece!
Add a little moody vibe with Sherwin Williams Caviar black paint. It looks like velvet! And this can be a fun weekend project too!
